May 27, 2010
To those of you who attended our Festival last week, thank you for coming. We hope you had fun and learned something new while here. We certainly enjoyed having you and hope you will come again next year. Festival dates are May 17, 18 and 19, 2011. If the number of entries warrants it, we will add Monday, May 16 again.
Once again we had dynamite Night Shows. Our favourite “big band”, the Air Command Band brought their Show Band for one show only on Monday. It was a good old rock concert and the place was jumpin’. Tuesday we featured Eclipse, a jazz/pop/soul chorus from Saskatoon, directed by BJ Harris. They fed off the energy of the audience and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Wednesday’s guest was the National Youth Choir. We have truly been fortunate to have the National Youth Band last year and now the National Youth Choir as our special guests.
From the comments by the music directors and the clinicians, I think we can agree this was a pretty fine Festival. Other than one CD burner laying down on the job, there weren’t any further glitches (that I was aware of!) Thanks to our small, but amazing committee everything seemed to move along tickety-boo.
LOST and FOUND at Peacock Auditorium a rainmaker, a couple of bass drum beaters, and a cymbal stand. If these belong to you, email me.
I’ve already received our first entry for 2011!!
Have a wonderful, relaxing summer and we hope to see you again next year.
