February 2010
OUR SCHEDULE IS FULL!! Barring cancellations, we have room for one choir and one concert band. To accommodate more concert bands, a Monday schedule was opened (and rapidly filled) at Peacock Auditorium. Our eight clinicians are all in place, and our Night Show guests are booked.
Obviously we are filling a niche for our music educators and their students. How exciting to play a part in promoting music performance and appreciation!
We hope you are keeping an eye on our website for news and new information. PLEASE NOTE:
Directors are being asked to number every bar of the score handed in to the clinicians.
Three of the four Night Shows are already sold out. Our guest performing group Tuesday evening is “Eclipse”, a vocal jazz group from Saskatoon, under the direction of BJ Harris. Wednesday’s performers will be the National Youth Choir, following on the heels of last year’s guests, the National Youth Band. The idea of two shows nightly worked well last year and we are happy that twice as many students are able to hear these performers.
Thank you to all of our out-of-town directors who completed our survey after the 2009 Festival. We had a 78% response, which is a phenomenal number!! Among other bits of information, we learned that this Festival attracts well over $1 million to Moose Jaw during those three days in May! As you can imagine, this bodes well when we apply for grants. Thank you for your time and information.
.
So we are on the homeward stretch toward another fantastic Festival! We are looking forward to seeing you here in May.
